Perhaps it is a rumour, butt I recall having read somewhere a quote alleged to Billy. IIRC, is goes something like this: "Scoreboard, baby. Everything else is just conversation."

Another way of saying a similar concept is "It's all academic."

There is an entertaining new series on AMC starring Bob Odenkirk called Lucky Hank. It is about an English department chairman at an underfunded fourth-tier college, Professor Hank Devereaux (Odenkirk) toes the line between midlife crisis and full-blown meltdown, navigating the offbeat chaos in his personal and professional life.

I just cannot see Billy or a character playing Billy being within 1,000 miles of that type of existence. Billy is a doer. A world-shaker. Billy doesn't play for practice, Billy plays for munny. Billy plays DaGame, scores DaPoints, getts the Ws - Billy is nott the dude sitting up in the media box writing about the game or doing play-by-play or color commentary.

Billy is a player, nott a sports reporter for the Faber College Weekly Pumpkin writing about girls field hockey games against other commuter junior college teams. Billy is iInal Four NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament starter material. He puts DaBall in DaHoop, he scores. As he has done for himself in Chanboned. He is Wealthy Billy, nott Lucky Hank.

In one of the magazine articles about Billy (there are several), I recall him being quoted as saying "Some people just never make it out of college." I think he was prolly referring to the low percentage of college basketball players who make it to the NBA. Or maybe he meant something else.
