West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery rose $1.35, or 1.7%, to $82.88 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, poised for the highest front-month contract finish since Nov. 16, FactSet data show.
June Brent crude the global benchmark, gained $1.42, or 1.7%, to $87.03 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe, on track for the highest settlement since January.
