If you were mugged in a notoriously dangerous part of a city that you didn't know well, would you never warn others about possibly keeping away?

I would prefer to be warned and I would greatly appreciate it if my loved ones were heading there and someone warned them ahead of time.

Hey, but that's just me.

(I guess you believe police officers and other first responders are ODD then.)
When protecting others in any way is odd behavior, it's time to give up.
