Dose Titration Probably Required for All Treatments

Wouldn't you want Anavex determining the dosage first? Physicians prescribing off-label, patient by patient, on an ad hoc basis doesn't sound like a great system.

Well, it won't be Anavex, or some Anavex publication that determines a proper dose of blarcamesine to use for any particular patient or indication. It's pretty clear that this will have to be individually determined for each patient, by titration. Start with a small dose and slowly increase it while watching to see how the patient responds. When symptoms become controlled, that will be that particular patient's dosage.

Most likely dosage titrations, adjustments toward optimal therapeutic outcomes, will be required for all blarcamesine therapies. There will have to be some low, starting dosage, which will be slowly and carefully increased until favorable therapeutic outcomes are achieved.

For prophylactic uses titration may not be needed. A low starting dose (5mg?) may prove sufficient to stop the symptomatic progression of the target disease. All of that will have to be first checked out on animals, then humans. Eventually, the related questions will be answered and the best ways to adjust dosages for optimal outcomes will be known.
