I agree. Sandy Munroe even tried to tell Elon to use the radar. He was very specific about FLIR. Any pilot worth his salt would not fly without it since it is essential for safety in bad weather.
Mostly military pilots had it for years. It is now pretty common in general aviation aircraft as well.
