From the National Mining Society (Sonami), its president Jorge Riesco describes the situation as "worrying", and recalls that there are currently important investment projects that are waiting to be reviewed and approved, which could add relevant productions in between of the growing demand for mineral in the world. “There is stagnation and there seems to be no will to approve technically feasible projects. It is not a good sign, if, on the other hand, you want to bet on increasing investment at a time when it is very necessary. Here there is a multiplicity of factors, which result in an excessive delay in the processing of permits and a lack of certainty in the outcome of the processes, even if the legal and regulatory conditions are met”, laments Riesco.
