The greatest gift cancer gave me was the opportunity to transform into the strongest and best version of myself.

Today, I celebrate the day my life forever changed and 4 glorious years of believing in miracles.

Reflecting back on the past 48 months of living, and becoming a new and improved version of myself, I am filled with gratitude for the gift to wake up the past 1,460 mornings, but who’s counting!

But it’s also the gift to my children and family. To have their mom tuck them in every night, to be there for 4 more of their birthdays, watch Ella compete in her first dance competition, and cheer for Hayden’s first year of tackle football and snowboard with them for the first time that is the best gift of all.

I’m not gonna lie and say it has been sunshine and flowers, it has been the hardest years of my life… but they’ve also been some of the most beautiful years of my life. I feel like I’ve physically and mentally climbed Mount Everest, and am still in awe of the what the human body is capable of.

The one thing that never wavered was having HOPE. When I went into surgery that morning, I just felt in my heart and had the HOPE that everything was going to be OK. HOPE that I would get to watch my kids celebrate another birthday. HOPE that I would live past 12 months. HOPE that I would get the chance to survive this and LIVE.

Every painful, heart wrenching situation gives us perspective, and reminds us how we only have this one life to live. They give us an opportunity to grow and become stronger. It is a choice.

Today, I give an extra special shoutout to my incredible my angels on earth. - my medical team @uclamedical , family, friends, and everyone who have supported and grown with me these past 4 years. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your messages, love, hugs and prayers you have sent my way. It means the absolute world. Thank you for believing in me. I am here to stay and have the privilege and honor to help others now with @do.cancer. I hope you never need us, but know we are here if you ever do.
