but you can probably safely bet that this likely wasn't because they felt they had built up a slam dunk defence case, for a compliant and congenial client who was a pleasure to deal with and who paid up in full and on time.



Show me a lawyer who won't take on a slime ball and try to build a defense, and I'll show you lawyer that has morals. This firm would have looked into Berman's past and knew up front what they were getting into IMO.

As for being broke.

This is not his first rodeo. The guy has a track record and knows the system WELL. I'd bet a steak dinner that he is more likely painting the picture that he is broke and has hidden a porn fund in the back-yard.

Yes, the old wallet can get really thin when you hire a law firm like he had. At this point, he knows he has no defense and can't see any financial benefit in paying out what little he has hidden away. Having a public defender appointed in California is likely a good move on his part. It would tell me that he will now cut a plea deal and there will be no trial. I'm beating he will see little time served here, due to his age and financial being.

Sorry gang, the Feds have bigger fish to fry.
