Public Citizen and Dr. Sydney Wolfe are the real thing, for decades dedicated to protecting the public interest and holding corporations (in particular) and the government accountable.

(I'm for Medicare paying for Alzheimer's treatments that work, but not for squandering billions of dollars for treatments that show no clinical benefit, or super-minimal benefit at best. Not to mention they maybe do more harm than good.)
