Closer to 1300 but back then the public school didn’t prepare us. No study and practice test classes or even highlighting upcoming SATs to parents.

It was more like, here’s a pencil now sit down and take this test!

Back then in Brooklyn it was far from assumed you all would go to college even if you wanted to go.

Parents like mine who cared and immigrated to America relied on us, their children to be alert and bring up important school and educational matters. They provided the nice home environment and made sure our true needs were met, not any excesses.

It was You snooze, You lose. My generation of cousins and paisons from Sicily all were top of class and studied and became engineers.
