The reported number for interest that I have for 2022 is $475B. That would say the average interest rate paid is somewhere around 1.6%. I have heard that the 2023 number could be around 800M which makes sense. That would be about 2.7%. We are approaching interest being 20% of income, 2024 could easily be over 33%. The debt is not going down and if major expenses are not cut, the debt will just get worse and with higher interest rates. This is not going to end well.

I'm guessing that Powell doesn't sleep well.
