I drive a Tesla (as does my wife) only partially for environmental reasons. However, I have to take issue with some of that you say.

In California, where we live, over one-third of the total California energy mix (including electricity imports) electricity comes from from renewable sources.In addition over 9% of the total energy mix icomes from "large hydro" which s distinguished from small hydro and is considered 'non-renewable'.
