Looks like SIPA comes into play during a broker to broker bankruptcy. Ultimately though it will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Positions owed have to be settled or a cash value provided to the other broker. Looks like SIPA has to make the securities available to the maximum extent possible and guarantees delivery to the other brokers. Look up 15 U.S.C. § 78fff-1(b)(1)
