Missling is setting up for growth and expansion and has been for some time. He is data driven in all that he does and this is no different. ).

The regulatory hire, biostatistician, IR, Grimmer, etc. A great leader surrounds himself with great leaders.

Great leaders also do evolve over time, as they must. Basic functional skill sets also need to evolve as growing organizations needs do/will change. There are at least two fundamental necessary evolutions occurring, in addition to new/expanded skills coming aboard we will note differences in style and how work gets done.

CNS science is preparing for the next leadership frontier that has to be conquered. It is not going to be an easy task. This is going to be politically/culturally difficult but it is OBVIOUSLY THERE as a barrier to change.

W/S is a cultural sewer IMO. But, it is what it is and we must at least be aware of the flows and when to just walk away. Science that is well done will/can not continuously interface well with liars and dishonest methods, that is a conflict we must be wary of. Compromise is a band-aide which has obviously long since stopped working for BP and CNS-Science.
IMO, AVXL will force that required change cycle to start. We did not ask for this fight but it obviously must happen.

There is some reason why the FDA still rewards the Amyloid Thesis in CNS research , even after 100+ years of continuous scientific contradictions. Those FDA folks are not tone deaf and they are not uniformed/uneducated. We must not end up swimming around in the sewer with them , just to get along. Dr.M. has gone a different path and we will clearly benefit from his courage. When the required regulatory changes happen, we will know. I expect a do-over of the international regulatory system will develop, it is long overdue.

Strong functional leadership and strong technical leadership will often not see the same issues w/the same filters. The blending in process takes a little time and that is what we need Dr.M. to lead-now facilitate as the AVXL management culture evolves. Competence and trust are the most critical attributes of a winning technical organization.
