Doc, let me help you along in your DD on this one. As is usually the case one will need to focus on what was said to understand what was not said, and then draw a bunch of conclusions from the missing facts.

The key word here is “shoe”, singular. Shoes usually come in pairs. While some might immediately conclude flip is an amputee, others might conclude that he just got a good deal on a single shoe. Does he go without on the other foot? Does he wear a shoe of a different brand or style on the other foot? Was that other shoe acquired in a similar manner? Does this tell us anything about who he procures his shoes from? He must have more than one source, I would think.

Or, going down a different path, maybe someone else is tying the other shoe. What can we read into that possibility?
