The development of science and technology is changing the way we interact with digital media and the world around us. 3D holographic images and augmented reality technology have changed our way of knowing things in the real world, and we have seen scenes in entertainment, advertising, education, and other fields that we have never seen before. The 3D display can let people experience a super “real” visual feast that breaks through the virtual boundary in real life. The “3D display” commonly used in cinemas is a two-way display, which is actually the superposition of two two-dimensional planes. In this regard, WiMi Hologram Cloud INC. (NASDAQ: WIMI) believes that only the 3D display of holography can fundamentally solve various real display problems.

With the progress of science and technology, people have more demands for a high-quality visual experience, from 2D high-resolution TV to 3D holographic enhancement or virtual reality, as well as large real 3D displays.
This kind of display needs to support massive information flow:
the 2D full HD information data transmission rate is about 3Gb/s, while the 3D display with the same resolution requires a transmission rate of 3Tb/s, so it is difficult to implement at this stage. It is a great challenge to use existing technologies to achieve perfect 3D effects. Therefore, WiMi Hologram Cloud INC. (NASDAQ: WIMI) has been committed to developing holographic displays that can simultaneously achieve a large size and large field of view, but it needs to match with holograms with massive optical information content. The final images need to be seamlessly connected from all angles and depths, so it is not easy to splice 3D images together, It is impossible to tile 3D images directly in real space.

In order to meet this challenge, WIMI is developing a “holo-brick” unit display system. This unit is based on a rough integrated holographic display used for corner tiling 3D images. They are spliced together to form a huge, seamless 3D image. Each holographic brick uses a spatial light modulator with high information bandwidth to transmit information and combines with coarse integrated optics to form a tiled three-dimensional hologram with a large viewing angle and angular field of view. The system allows seamless space tiling of multiple coarse integral holographic (CIH) displays called “holographic tiles”.

Holographic brick is an independent CIH module, including a spatial light modulator (SLM), scanner, and periscope coarse integration optics. The creation of periscope rough overall optics prevents the optical system from being larger than the holographic image and allows holographic stripe patterns to fill the entire surface of the holographic brick. Therefore, multiple holographic tiles can seamlessly adjoin to form an expandable space-tiled holographic image display, which can simultaneously have a wide field angle and any large size area. Through optical design, each generated hologram can be seamlessly spliced to fuse the displayed 3D images in space.

The holographic effect is actually caused by diffractive optics. Its scattering angle depends on its wavelength and the size of the diffracted material. On the original basis, it will form a visual angle of about 1-2 degrees. That is to say, if you move the object slightly, you can show a 3D effect, but if the angle is too large, you can’t see the object. The CIH module can solve this problem by adjusting each angle in the space to about two degrees for space splicing, so as to obtain a space vision of more than 30-40 degrees. The modular CIH in the system uses thick spacing and small area but high bandwidth SLM combined with periscope coarse integration optics to form a three-dimensional 3D hologram with large field of view and field of view. WIMI will continue to develop the ultimate display technology to connect the real world and the virtual world, and reconstruct high-quality images to achieve an immersive experience.
