Here is one way to see this. Why would Denner go this route unless he
truly believed that AMRN had significant value if he (or his BOD) was in
control of the company?

If he were in control what step(s) could he take to insure the significant
value be unlocked? If Denner believed the only way (or perhaps the best
way to unlock that value was via a BP BO then he must have some basis
to believe that would be possible. Exactly what that "basis" actually is, is
unknown to us. (Presuming such exists.)
