Expenses involved in the storage of frozen tumors.
One of my friends has kidney cancer and will have the surgery within the next few months.
I suggested to him that it would be prudent to ask the surgery team whether it would
be practical to freeze and store his tumor(s) because if his cancer recurs years from now, it would perhaps
be possible to use the tumor lysate for the preparation of a vaccine that may save his life.

My friend than told me that he will discuss that possibility with the physicians but he is worried
about the cost involved in the storage of the tumor and he doubts that his insurance will pay for the
expenses involved. I told him that I am guessing that this storage would not be expensive and that he may not
have to pay much if anything.

Does anyone on this MB have some information about the cost involved in the long term
storage of such tumor material and who has the responsibility for the payment?
