If, as you claim, it is useless, WHY is it reported (in your view) and right next to the daily USD volume?

If it were meaningless, then why is it so prominent in the quote? Why are we not instead given the shoe size of the broker who entered the last order executed? Or the weather for Yaroslavl, Russia?
