I had a rather curious occurence today. On my Schwab account this afternoon when I checked the "positions" category of my account, I noticed that under the LWLG column, it posted "non-marginable". I do not have a margin account to begin with so I was a bit surprised to see my LWLG stock categorized as "non-marginable" since in a non-margin account that should be a given. Another stock that I own which is an OTC stock and also carries a low stock price did not have the same categorization of "non-marginable". A few minutes later, when I refreshed my login to Schwab, the normal view was restored and there was no categorization of "non-marginable".
I just wondered whether there is so much demand for shares to short that firms like Schwab are doing unusual things?
Any thoughts? Anyone else have a similar experience?
