Maybe Anavex Sigma-1 Ligands Work, Too

Covid virus inactivated at ACE2 receptor site by newly developed ACE2 decoy blocker. Is the ACE2 receptor related to SR1 receptor ?

Well, one study found that certain sigma-1 receptor ligands (molecules that attach to the sigma-1 receptor protein) do, indeed slow or stop the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) from infecting cells of primates, including humans:

Conclusions: Sigma receptor ligands and drugs with off-target sigma receptor binding characteristics were effective at inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 infection in primate and human cells, representing a potential therapeutic avenue for COVID-19 prevention and treatment.

Of course, none of the Anavex molecules were tested in this study. But that won't be hard to check. They certainly do connect, attach to the sigma-1 receptor protein and markedly change or moderate its cellular activities. Let's see what develops on this.
