Express Scripts goes by your insurance provider. I haven't had that issue with Express Scripts. As matter of fact, they overshipped supply prematurely. I now have a six months supply of V. Your insurance provider should have a dedicated pharmacy inquiry number. I would call them, as I have plenty of times over the years, and state your issue directly. They tend to be more than willing to help within their capacity, as most people are familiar with the request to rate the service they provided at the end of the call. Make sure you patch into the pharmacy help desk. I have enjoyed successful outcomes with matters related to generic vs branded and or prior auth etc. Lastly, I treat them with respect, and depending on the rapport, at times I volunteer a little titbit about the science in a way that ties back to purpose of my call. At worst, they appreciate the additional information. In which case, they submit for an appeal, or send my request over to the people who are better positioned to accommodate. Or, they say they will call or communicate with my Doctor, which is a win at that point. Better yet, since you've softened up your target, and assuming the doctors office is very busy, I would call the doctor's office and explain the situation, and ask the manager at the Doctor's office to take the lead and call the pharmacy department of your insurance, or submit the prior auth request written in a way that reinforces the logic behind the requested formulation.

I have never failed to get what I want, and I've had several different providers over the years.

Good luck
