That almost more than 70% reduction in IL-6 levels. I am guessing all 3 patients recovered from trauma and coma
These patients were not comatose. However, the three and the other two were all diagnosed with CTE. These are the first 5 living humans ever diagnosed with the disease.

Can you test for CTE while alive?
While chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) cannot yet be diagnosed during life, a new study provides the best evidence to date that a commonly used brain imaging technique, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), may expedite the ability to diagnose CTE with confidence in the living.Dec 8, 2021

Diagnosis
There is currently no way to diagnose CTE. It can only be suspected in people who are at high risk due to repeated head trauma over the course of years during their sports or military experiences. A diagnosis requires evidence of degeneration of brain tissue and deposits of tau and other proteins in the brain that can be seen only upon inspection after death (autopsy).

Can you confirm CTE before death?
At this time CTE can only be diagnosed after death by postmortem neuropathological analysis. Right now there is no known way to use MRI, CT, PET, SPECT, or other brain imaging methods to definitively diagnose CTE. In addition, there are no known blood or spinal fluid tests for CTE.

How is CTE diagnosed today?
There's currently no test to diagnose CTE. A diagnosis is based on a history of participating in contact sports, plus the symptoms and clinical features. Your GP will talk to you about the problems you're experiencing and may ask you to carry out some simple mental or physical tasks, such as moving or walking around.
