In a situation as now with $AVXL at an inflection point and no recent information e.g. TLR, it creates uncertainty that few are happy to passively entertain. Expect of course on this message board.

This causes traders and investors, whether retail or institutional, to decrease risk either by hedging their exposure or simply reducing it.

Reducing exposure results in lower demand and a declining stock price. Certainly, shorts may take such an opportunity over several days to cover, but not so much or rapidly as to change the balance between supply and demand and still able to cover gradually, on a for them welcome, down trend. This way making money on their short positions and not being exposed to a potentially outside risk of great results tomorrow.

Or, to keep everyone happy, its simply the nasty cabal having come up with new virtual tricks.
