Broadcom is launching CPO in data Center servers now.

The optical engines are located very close to the switch ASIC to reduce power requirements and speed up the I/O of data.

In other presentations they show the use of remote laser sources to help keep the temperature at the ASIC as low as possible. Also the laser can be easily accessed/ replaced if it’s mounted on the face plate of the server.

We know Broadcom is supplying Poet with lasers. We know Poet, Broadcom and Celestial AI are working together on ML/ AI chips.
