The CEO of Poet said recently that they have a shot at eliminating the need for a DSP in a transceiver by using the Poet optical interposer.

These 2 companies think otherwise. The drivers for the lasers are built into the DSP to allow direct drive capabilities of the laser.

If Poet and their transceiver customers find a way to eliminate the DSP you get rid of 7-8 watts per transceiver.

We shall see.
