I think everyone who is saying how the jury should be comprised, are missing the fact that both sides, plaintiffs and defendants have a say in the jury. You don't submit a resume to be on jury. Court staff don't look at a list people categorized by gender, race, age, job, education, political affiliation or favorite sports team. Attorneys and the judge, i think, they get a courtroom of X-many potential jurors randomly chosen from voter's registration, or driver's license databases. They ask questions to see if each person is competent to sit on the jury or dismissed to go home.
D's Atty may like Jane Doe, but the P's Atty may not and finds some way to get them removed by arguing to the judge. And it may be the same in reverse. I
And i think there was a man on the jury, but he was excused (at the judge's discretion, like it or not) after case went past two weeks.
