While I highly appreciate your frankness, I feel deeply bad that I could have hurt the feelings of board members or Amarin management.
Please don’t misunderstand me. This is the first time that I post on a board and I really do not feel comfortable in front of a laptop which I use as a simple typewriter. Actually, I was surprised and bewildered to see that my first message went out thrice and, moreover, in caps as you noted. Sincere apologies to all who may have been disturbed by this, and to moderators for the trouble I caused them. At 75, it is technology that has caught up with me.
Let me also be clear that my motivation is to contribute, when possible, to constructive discussions in the interest of all. In my post, I just wanted to contrast statements with on the ground realities in order to point out the misleading results that the gap between them may engender. I was not emitting any moral judgements in this respect, far from there.
To dissipate any doubts about my sincerity, allow me to give a glimpse about my mindset and the universe in which I have been evolving.
A drifter since birth, I have travelled extensively, and lived in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and the US where, through work and scholarships, I obtained a BS, MA and MBA from three Ivy League universities. My multi-lingual skills have afforded me the immersion in disparate cultural spheres, meeting and interacting, de facto, with almost all nationalities the world counts. With time, this has come to be reflected in the diversity of my united family. Today, am a happy grandfather to three cosmopolitan boys.
My exposure to the diversity of the world from a very young age has informed my special interest in mysticism as a creative force that marries ethics and practice; in culture and its capacity to point to truth through beauty; and spirituality that opens the door to rise above our animal instincts in order to realize our human nature. Struck by the divorce between meaning and work, the paradox of a global society that planned for, and trained, everything except the human spirit, I long ago elected to devote my time to my family and others over the pursuit of money. Though the road wasn’t particularly easy, the outcome has been rewarding.
My constant focus has been to seek an understanding of who I am and what the beauty of life is all about. My quest has led me to engage in practice/realization to tend towards the virtues of harmony, serenity, respect and purity. I am here deeply indebted to Indian and Far Eastern cultural expressions. Yoga and Zen meditation have long become a part of my daily life, adding to what the long years of assiduous practice of one Budho form - Kinomichi (The Way of Energy) – has offered me.
Hope you would appreciate my saying am a long Amarin, hurt but definitely not embittered.
