My sense is that a patent has little impact at this point. Until they actually run a trail for Covid in humans this is a minimal item.

One could argue that it could be perceived as a desperate ploy by the likes of AF.
On the other hand it could be perceived as continuing to build an IP moat around the drugs under development.

If investing was easy, everyone would be rich by now.
