I once took this budding new promoter out into the bush in the winter staking claims. He wanted to learn first hand. He later became very famous and wealthy. Anyhow we were staying in this small town hotel and we ate each evening in the dining room. Next table to ours were these 2 older couples .. looking like they had money and talking away loudly enough that we could hear them. The one couple was extolling the virtues of their silver mine .. no doubt to the other couple who were marks. Afterwards my friend told me he learned something about mining conning that night. It was his first exposure to it. But he later refined the con into something far more sophisticated.
