It's Titanium! Build a few out of Titanium and test the difference! The reason they are using steel is they think the cost is better. Market wants to use Titanium. I bet you get a 40% weight reduction of the vehicle if you switch.

Build a nuclear reactor near any new processing facility! Loosing too much water due to hydroelectric. Can limit the waste with thorium design and maybe reuse already spent fuel sitting in storage.
