Recession fears with respect to RVNC, specifically, are probably overdone. In the 2008-2009 recession, which was deeper than what we’re likely to encounter in 2023, botulinum toxin sales plateaued but did not decline. The therapeutic portion of the toxin market is non-discretionary for most patients, and the aesthetic portion of the market is less elastic than many people think. Looking good is one of the last “elective” things that people want to give up when times are tough.
