That is a good point. If the flu is seasonal. And it is killing about 3x less people than Covid annually. Then it is about as deadly as Covid is in it’s peak period during the year. If not more so for a month or two. I ended up in the ICU when I got the flu at 20. Both Covid bouts didn’t send me there. It does appear that Covid mutates much faster than influenza. But we have been dealing with influenza for a long time without a cure. I have now gotten something like 40 flu shots in my life and caught the flue about once every other year. They now give you a quad strain shot every year.

I also think that as a novel virus. Our immune system didn’t see it coming. I think in about 5 years everyones immune system will know exactly what it is.

Tollovid/r has a 2 or 3 year window to make money. Testing, that is a different story. But I don’t understand what the barrier is to other companies jumping into the game if they see it is profitable.
