It is likely cheaper to produce their own Gromwell Root (aka Lithospermum Erythrorhizon) and it is also important for quality control.

Some root products contain other things picked up in the soil so it is important that the company tests for the possible presence of things like pyrrolizidine alkaloids which are sometimes found in the root depending on where it is harvested?

This would be important if someone was to use their product for an extended period.

I contacted Todos with that question and received a reply that they do test for that and based on their safety report, do not have any concerns regarding extended use of Tollovid.
