Bitcoin has fallen to $18,988 on Tuesday, the lowest level since July 3, as major stock indexes slide while energy prices rise. The cryptocurrency is down 3.9% over the past 24 hours, according to CoinDesk data. Ether dropped 0.6% over the past 24 hours to around $1,575, despite enthusiasm around Ethereum's upcoming merge, an upgrade that is expected to make the blockchain more energy efficient. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 137 points, or 0.4%, to around 31,182 Tuesday, according to FactSet data. The Nasdaq Composite is on track for its longest losing streak since 2016. The 10-yr Treasury yield stands at 3.33% Tuesday, its highest level since June 15, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
