Totally off topic. My neurosurgeon husband passed away 6 years ago today.
He was diagnosed on 2/6/2014,the date of his 70th birthday. For a few months before that he had several problems which, whenever I questioned him, he attributed to "getting old." My daughter, a doctor, explained to me that the location of the tumor made it difficult for him to diagnose his own tumor.

Within 5 days of the diagnoses, right frontal very large GBM, he underwent surgery at a major university hospital, total resection, that was participating in the phase III trial, but was not informed about it prior to surgery. I think the surgeon, whom he knew, was just focused on operating ASAP.
Upon his discharge from the hospital I searched online for trials for newly diagnosed GBM patients and found the DCVaxL trial. Unfortunately the compassionate use/self pay option had been suspended.

Finally, the following September, the program was reinstated.
In March 2015 we travelled to the London to have the "vaccine" administered.
The following June 2015 he had a recurrence which his MDs originally thought was a reaction to the vaccine, no such luck. We travelled to the UK three times.
I can't say I had much hope that it would work, but it was better than sitting at home watching him die.
Enough, he underwent three surgeries over two years.
It was painful to watch this extremely capable, skilled in many ways, person become increasingly handicapped over those 2 years and 7 months.

So many trials, so many failures, just hope that one day a cure will be found.
