SCOTUS even admitted this.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were essentially “nationalized as any stock holder will tell you.

Paul Pelletier Former senior prosecutor in the U.S Justice Department Criminal Division’s Fraud Section
Pelletier worked as a federal prosecutor for 27 years. During the Justice Department’s crackdown on Enron executives, he was acting chief of the Criminal Division’s fraud section. In the wake of the financial crisis, he became frustrated by lack of action from the Justice Department’s leadership and left the agency.

“People didn't get prosecuted during the financial crisis or high level executives simply because of a lack of commitment, competence, and courage by the political leaders in the Department of Justice. That's what I observed. That's what I saw. That's what I felt. And that's why I left the Department of Justice."

Why didn’t any Wall Street CEO go to jail after the financial crisis? It’s a question we were frequently asked throughout our reporting of the 10-year anniversary of the financial crisis. The financial crisis of 2008 altered so many lives: Millions of people lost their homes, their jobs and their savings. It set off a recession that collectively destroyed over $30 trillion of the world’s wealth. And though the crisis grew out of big banks’ handling of mortgage-backed securities, no Wall Street executive went to jail for it. So what happened?

DOJ was in on it. 2008 Financial Crisis was DELIBERATELY INTENTIONAL for the purpose of hijacking the GSE's from shareholders. Our attorney's got bought off to throw the cases. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

I agree the crisis was to sack the gses. It also was to gain control over other institutions and state governments through force fed TARP funds. Maybe even a vendetta or two, Bear...Lehman. The meaning of TARP is still up in the air. If the elections don't follow the polls TARP will mean Total Anihilation of the Republican Party. It seems that is what has happened over the last 14yrs.
