I would recommend that you begin with only selling covered calls and using short term timelines. Also, know your company's trading patterns well. Avoid holding options that overlap ex-dividend days or you may lose your shares and the dividend. Start on paper. If you're selling covered calls correctly they should expire worthless to the other party 90% of the time.
