The part that makes me wonder about it all, is why won't twitter just produce the information - the stats - data, showing the methodology they used to arrive at that 5% number of "bots". It does matter how many are real and how many are bots no matter what twitter says.

Twitter thrives off of traffic flow. Customers - advertisers come to twitter because they see the "hooplah" and all the commotion and they assume that they will get a certain amount of exposure based on what they're seeing.

90% of those accounts are NOT verified by any real means that can substantiate how many are real or not.. Look at twitters statement. they arrive at their numbers based on the number of times people "log in and out".. They just stated that.. BOT accounts log in and out just like real accounts do. You can't post if you don't log in. Twitter posting software keeps you logged in or will even log you in and out using different means. There's no way to differentiate REAL logins vs spam accounts because 90% OF THOSE ACCOUNTS WERE NEVER VERIFIED WITHH ANY DUE DILIGENCE/ IF TWITTER could tell the difference between real and FAKE accounts, they would BAN them, right? lol..
