Many of those blocks represent controlling interests that are worth a premium if marketed carefully. Buffett has said he hears from eager prospective buyers all the time.

"Not mentioned are BRK's roughly 66 wholly owned subsidiaries such at the BNSF Railroad they've owned since about 1998. Such are rarely sold." Most are worth far more than book value.
