Doesn’t matter how good the data is, they will twist the data

Sure, they will but if the data is good enough to look forward to eventual approval shorts will eventually be overwhelmed. Assuming favorable TLD, a big deal in terms of the stock price action is going to be where the regulatory authorities come out in terms of requirements for another trial, etc. If regulatory approval is pushed out another couple of years, the stock price will remain vulnerable although it could be expected to base at a higher level. A hopeful scenario, in my view, is approval with a confirmatory Phase IV requirement.
