I think what is really frustrating is that IIRC there was a Bhatt tweets many months ago concerning this subject where I believe (I can't find the exact tweet) Dr. Bhatt stated that the results were taking so long because they would need to be published before any commentary on them.

Then, quite recently I again believe he made some kind of comment that he was awaiting the results of Dr. Mason's tests.

So now for Dr. Bhatt to say that these were not done since no one funded them is discouraging since it sounds like Dr. Bhatt was saying things without direct knowledge and at least inferring incorrect information.
