What we know is that the manuscript was submitted for review with at least one journal prior to May 10. Could be earlier, but certainly no later than.

Maybe it could be taking this long with no issues. More than likely, not. We are all just hypothesizing here. DI has said that they had hoped the journal would be published prior to the ASM. If they thought that was a possibility, it would imply to me they have run into some problems getting it published. They have the insider information and they wouldn't be holding on for dear life delaying the ASM if they knew that the normal course of this publication would take a good deal longer than the timeframe they reasonably have for the ASM. So if the ASM is announced prior to journal, you can bet there were unusual/unanticipated delays.

We're just guessing, yes, but we can also apply logic to the situation to make it an educated guess.
