Nancy Mace's bill (R) South Carolina is the States Reform Act. It proposes a 3% federal excise tax...versus 8% in Nadler's MORE Act, and 5-12.5% federal excise tax in Schumer's CAOA for small to mid-sized cannabis producers and an initial 10% excise tax (that gradually increases to 25%) on large producers.

Mace voted no on the MORE Act merely because her amendment to the bill to reduce the excise tax to 3% was shot down.

I don't like getting political, but am weary of the Dems vs Reps conversation that is skewed by inaccurate information. Consensus wants these Dem led bills to pass, but I wouldn't be overly optimistic about profit margins if the federal tax is higher than 5%. Don't forget that each state and municipality is going to get (in some cases are already getting) their cut. When the collective govt's take 20-30 points off the top, it will be hard to profit AND compete with the black market.
