When you are working on the cutting edge of technology and quite literally establishing the new state of the art, there are more unknown unknowns than there are knowns unknowns.

Your assumption that the former CEO was being naive about technology development issues is incorrect. The main criteria for innovation is to develop something that nobody yet knows about. So by definition, you won't know there is a problem until there is a problem. Nobody at the company was being dishonest or naive.

Fast forward to today, the company has provided time guidance towards announcing their work with foundries (plural) by the end of the year. I encourage you to position your portfolio prior to the announcement.
