Ayar Labs' Micro Ring Resonators (MRRs) are not targeting the datacom or telecom transceiver market. They are targeting optical I/O solutions i.e. using light to make the processor and memory chips talk to each other inside the server. It will speed up the AI and High Power Compute industries, which will also result in the need for more transceivers to send that increased data between the servers and server racks.

LWLG's initial foray into the photonics market is in the pluggable datacom transceiver market. The more data that is being created and computed inside the server by Ayar's technology means there will be more data that will flow inter and intra datacenter using LWLG's technology in the future. Ayar Labs' components do not directly compete with LWLG's components and both will be successful. Additionally, the LWLG/Polariton collaboration on the race track modulator (another type of MRR) proved that Ayar Labs' components can be enhanced with LWLG's materials. It is complimentary, not competitive.
