The daughter’s internist or endocrinologist will be the ones that provide medical advice. They likely will be aware of the American Diabetes Association post R-I endorsement of Vascepa for treatment of diabetes. I haven’t explored the ADA Guidelines or its publication Diabetes Care lately to see whether focus continues to be primarily or totally on T2-Diabetes. I recall an endo telling me in 2018-2019 that there were not enough T-1 diabetics in the Reduce-It trial to power the trial results for those patients to statistical significance.

Since my internist saw fit to prescribe V for me in 2013 in light of my father’s and his 3 sisters’ early demise from heart disease and some evidence of my low amount of carotid artery plaque, I have done well the past 9 years, including losing ~ 25-30 lbs to now weigh what I weighed as an 18 year old teen; that has been accompanied by use of a much lower amount of insulin than I used in 1957.

I attribute my relatively long life to good medical care since diagnosis of T1-D at age 19 in 1957, sticking to the prescribed diet and calories since then, with moderate amount of exercise that I was used to.
