Why does it have to be one or the other? If Missling pulls off the multi platform drug thing he will be worth hundreds of Millions $. He will have earned it.

He has also run Anavex in a way that the rare disease community has saluted Anavex as setting the example of how a company should work with the rare disease community to run trials. Maybe it is compassion on his part, maybe it is just insightful business sense. The end result is the same either way.

Missling has chosen to pursue several rare diseases. It seems clear to me that he could have chosen to do just one rare disease and then pursue the larger market disease exclusively. He has not chosen to do that. He is pursuing multiple rare diseases and the larger disease markets. AD, PD, PDD are the indications that will make Anavex the serious money, yet he continues to go after multiple rare diseases. That speaks to wanting to help people that have few if any medical options to deal with the devastating diseases that afflict their families.

So it looks like both making himself serious money and helping people.
