Assumptions are fine. That is all we are left with when we have a dearth of information. My only point was your assumptions tend to lean more towards the existence of far flung conspiracies and illegal behavior by parties. I try to make a little more realistic assumptions when viewing situations. The likelihood of wide spread illegality is probably very slim.
