Fourth: Barricks has a guy who is transforming the company and so far is worth of his reputation as the best in the business, Mark Bristow, and I like the idea of having the best management player in the entire industry. Buffett always says perhaps the most important thing he looks for is the quality of management. He also says buy simple businesses that an idiot can understand because some day an idiot will end up running the business, but Bristow seems to me to be very sharp indeed.

He says now is the time to pick it up dirt cheap, whereby for perhaps a 25 percent permium, they steal 20 million ounces from their partner NG, which is being given away. Also, the partnership is now doing a very substantial drilling campaign to add millions of ounces to an already vast, pretty rich deposit. Excluding NAK, which will never ever get permitted in the next 5 to 8 years, the Donlin project with some improvement of ounces (5 to 10 million?), is surely one of the top couple advanced projects on earth. In fact I cannot think of anything that compares.
